adventure land
Math students are adventurers. Unless they seek to complete a specific education, or seek the truth, in which case they could be called seekers. Otherwise, math is a largely uncharted adventure land where people can get lost, find fame, or just have a good time.
discoverers
Here is what I think; mathematicians, and any student of math actually, are discoverers, rather than inventors. The world of math facts is out there for anyone to discover. And it exists whether anybody knows about it or not.
The idea that math is created as a figment of the mind, as some philosophers of mathematics imagine, is in my opinion rather absurd. The universal agreement around the world of what is true mathematics is a strong argument for the independent existence theory.
